Hello friends! Sorry, I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted but between school, internship, and work… well, let’s just say it all has been really overwhelming lately. It also doesn’t help that my motivation is at an all time low. Finals. Am I right?

As most of you may know, I turned 20 this past Saturday. I know it’s not really that big of a milestone but I actually feel like an adult now. I mean, I’m officially no longer a teenager and there is no better feeling.

I know I look 14 but I promise you guys that I really turned 20.

If you know me you KNOW that I love and live for my birthday. I start counting down the day after. And don’t get me started once it’s a couple of days away. I am a little bit annoying about it but it’s okay. I live with it and you all will too. (sorry)

Of course as much as I love my birthday I had to write about it. I HAD too. (sorry again)

So let’s start off with a quick fact.

FACT: my past 3 birthdays I’ve decided to wear yellow. It’s my favorite color and it’s my special day so why not? No one has really noticed this besides my close family but I thought I would share it with you all. I decided to switch things up a little bit this year and instead of wearing all yellow, I bought the romper pictured above. This was perfect because I also love flowers so it was nice to wear two of my favorite things. (I got this at Charlotte Russe for like $30 fyi)

As much as I love my birthday I usually don’t do anything extravagant. I like to keep it simple. So for my birthday I went out to eat with my parents and sister. Although we are Mexican and my first choice of food is always Chipotle, we went to El Rancho Grande. BTW — if you are vegetarian, their vegetarian menu is BOMB! I had their burrito filled with beans, cheese, tomato, mushroom, and onions. I LOVED IT. It also comes with rice and more beans on the side. You all NEED this in your life I promise.

So after a nice dinner with my family I decided to end the night with my friends. (HUGE shout out to them for spending the evening with me you guys are the best) I’m not a big party person so it was just like a little gathering. The night consisted of the usual gossip, cards against humanity, and some pool. (Like a pool table, I don’t have a pool although I WISH)

But yes, my birthday consisted of family, friends, and food. My top 3 favorite things. And although I didn’t do anything crazy I still had the best birthday ever. It seems like the older I get the more I realize it’s the little things in life. Especially when it comes to presents.

This year I received an instax fujifilm camera from my parents and sister which I’ve been wanting (hinting) for a while. My best friend, Brie, gave me a poster with my favorite lyrics from my favorite song by Coldplay. Honestly, when I opened it and realized what it was, I was .2 seconds away from crying. It was so beautiful and such a thoughtful gift. I also received A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay. I don’t have an aux cord in my car so everyone that knows me knows that I heavily depend on CD’s. (this a hint) Another one of my favorite things I received was a notebook from my friend Meghan. I know it doesn’t seem like much but I love writing and I do as much of it as I can. I’m not necessarily writing a book or anything cool of that matter but sometimes it helps to write down what I’m feeling and sort out my mind. As much as I love sharing everything on my blog, there are some things I like to keep private hence why notebooks hold such a special place in my heart.

Lastly, of course my best friend Amanda spoiled me for my special day. She took me to get my nails done a day before and man, that was the best thing anyone has ever done for me. And on my birthday she showed up with an Easter basket full of gift cards, candy, and a yellow scarf. She always goes above and beyond with her gifts and I love her for that.

As you can see I am very lucky to have the family and friends that I have. I’m lucky that they pay attention to the things I love and care about. Actually, I’m lucky that they listen to begin with. And for that I am so thankful.

Oh, and of course I wasn’t going to end this post without discussing my birthday cake. I MEAN C’MON BEST BIRTHDAY CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! My love for Harry Potter is like no other and having an HP themed cake was a MUST. I have been waiting on my Hogwarts letter for 9 years now but I’m glad I at least got Hagrid’s cake. (I know I’m 20 and maybe having a Harry Potter themed cake might be lame but it was actually COOL ok)

So yes, I did have the best birthday ever. I’d like thank all of you for the birthday wishes. Even a simple happy birthday means so much to me.

There will be a part 2 to this post. Kind of. So stay tuned for that this week!

Again sorry I have been slacking with posting lately but once this semester is over you will see/read a lot more from me!

As always, thanks for reading!
